Description:

The circa 1835 sugar mill that serves as the reception area is the old tower in
the name of the Auberge de la Vieille Tour, a classy French hotel that stands
apart from the more commercial properties that surround it in Gosier. The sugar
mill and the large sugar cane press just outside the entrance are signs of the
Auberge's efforts to hold onto as much of early Guadeloupe life as possible.
The inn incorporates these artifacts into a well-balanced blend of Creole
hospitality, French informality and modern comforts.

Located only about three blocks from the center of Gosier, the four-acre resort
houses the majority of its rooms in four, three-story wings on a hillside
overlooking the sea. Each air-conditioned room has a mini-bar, coffee makers,
television, telephone, hair dryer and queen bed. Most rooms have ocean views.
The best rooms are the so-called "privileged" rooms, which add special goodies
like bathrobes and a fruit basket.

A small beach (which can be packed with sunbathers in high season), a swimming pool and two tennis courts make up the recreational options. You can walk to other nearby beaches if the hotel's small sands just won't do.

One of the Auberge's restaurants is near the sea and serves a breakfast buffet,
light lunches and theme dinners such as the weekly Creole buffet and barbecue.
The main restaurant on a hilltop is a more formal choice for delicious Creole
dishes and fresh seafood that's consistently above-average for hotel dining on
the island.
